Quick update on the going ons of the wedding

GRAD SCHOOL AND TAX SEASON ARE OFFICIAL OVER!!!

This means that is it WEDDING TIME!!!

Here is a quick update on the going ons with the wedding.

Now that we finally have time to think about the wedding, we are and after graduation on Sunday we hit the ground running. Sunday night we dropped our envelopes off at the calligrapher to be addressed and we could not be happier with her. Just like the rest of our vendors she is super awesome and relaxed. She does calligraphy on the side and has two major points in our books. The first point is her and her husband went to school in the Adirondacks at Clarkson, clearly good people. The second point is that they have a bumper sticker on their car that reads: "My marriage is not threatened by gay marriage." How awesome is that? We were super psyched when we saw it. http://www.calligraphydesigns.net/

Other than the envelopes and our calligrapher we are done designing the wedding invitation suite. We are going to start goccoing them tonight and hope to have all the goccoing done by next week when my wisdom teeth come out. We will be sure to post pictures.

Out of the loop

We have some sad news to report and it is that we have been really out of the loop lately. No that's not really it, but because we have been out of the loop we missed some sad news.

The West Mountain Inn, ya know where we're having the wedding, had a fire at the end of January. You might ask how we missed this news as we're Facebook friends with the Inn and the answer is, I'm not really sure. Sadly the fire looks as if it destroyed a good portion of the sitting room and game room. According to the Inn's reports and that of the linked fire report it doesn't seem to be as bad as the pictures. Our only fear is that the Inn will lose a little charm in the remodel. We are excited to see that they are using ECOfriedly insulation in the walls. Also, according to their status updates they are finding really cool things in the remodel like secret passages. You can friend them and see their remodel pictures and keep up with their updates.

The Wheels are turing again

Wedding planning is back underway after quite a hiatus. We have been too busy lately to think about the wedding and since all of the large details are out of the way we have been feeling secure. Of course you can only be ahead of plans for a little while and before you know it you can be behind. The good news is we aren't behind but it is time to start Goccoing again and thinking about the little details and let me tell you, there are a lot of little details to think about.

The things on our to-do list now are to plan all the little surprise we will have for everyone the weekend of the wedding, create our rehearsal dinner invites, Gocco the invitation suite (not so little), and finalize decisions on readings for the ceremony and ceremony music. Last night we started the goccoing of our invitation suites with the direction cards. It went very well but we didn't realize that we had used most of the ink we had on the STDs. That made made it a little challenging. I placed an order for more ink this morning. Here is a sneak peak:

Other items that have been accomplished since our last blog:

Spent a weekend at the Inn (winter wonderland)
We met with all of our vendors and discussed detail
A menu tasting (yummmmy)
Cake tasting (double yummy)
Found all the lanterns for our centerpieces

Jessica purchased her dress
Stephanie went for a fitting
Mary and Gabby purchased their dresses

Stephanie and Jessica purchased and designed their shoes
Operation work out for hiking/wedding is well underway
All paper has been purchased for our invitations
Direction cards have been Goccoed
Oh and we moved too

Overall I would say we aren't doing too badly but we are super excited to get wedding crazy when Grad school and tax season are over; we just need to make it through the next 2.5 months.

We've Been Bad

Bad bloggers that is, as it has been a while since we have updated. I'm now taking on the mission to make us better bloggers both on here and on ADK Wanderings. It is especially bad that we haven't been blogging since a lot has been going on in the wedding planning. In our last update we mentioned all of the vendors that we had booked already and today we booked another.

The vendor that we booked today is our DJ. His name is Nick Stylker and he comes very highly recommended by the Inn. After talking to him for an hour I know that we are making the correct choice by going with him. I also nailed down who will be playing our ceremony music. We are going with an acoustic guitarist named David Roth. I booked him through Nick and he will also play at the cocktail hour. The only vendor we still need to book is not really a vendor and probably the most important one; We STILL NEED SOMEONE TO PERFORM THE CEREMONY. The Inn listed someone on their recommendation list and Jessica is supposed to be calling her soon. In order to make the process of planning the wedding easier we have split up who is dealing with which vendor. The JP was originally on my list but I have pushed it off to Jessica's. We also need to make sure we get one before we go to the Inn in January. We are going to meet with some of the vendors and plan out the timing of the day with Amie. She said that the timing usually depends on when the JP is available.

In news other than vendors, I bought my wedding dress last week. Of course there will be no pictures of it because Jessica is way to nosy to not look. I will tell you however that I ended up going with a dress from a local shop in Latham, Juliet's Bridal. This Italian women took care of us and I felt like I was in the movie Moon Struck. She just ordered my mother and I around and didn't need to ask my size. She kept tell us that she had been doing her job for 22 years. Also the woman who owns the shop is the one who will do my alterations and this makes me very happy. I'm really glad that I could get it at a local shop as opposed to David's Bridal. Jessica has also selected her dress and she should be off to order it after Thanksgiving. She was originally putting it off until after her last test but now she is just so busy at work. I told her that I will not let it go past Christmas in fear that she won't get it in time. She is ordering her dress from David's but we are looking into getting it altered by a local woman. Someone at work recommended a friend of her's to us who does wedding dresses all the time.

Also a few weeks ago we went and registered at Bed Bath & Beyond. I wanted to be able to post pictures of that experience because it was tons of fun but both times we forgot the camera. Jessica let me play with the scanner the whole time and she got to be list girl. It was awesome and we have been back a few times because I keep changing my mind on which pots I want. I have finally decided and for now I'm satisfied with what we registered for there. We are also going to register at Sears. We were going to do Home Depot but you have to do everything by hand there and we can't do Target because of their donations to the groups who supported Prop 8. So Bed Bath & Beyond and Sears it will be.

I guess that's it for now and we promise to be better bloggers in the future.

It's been awhile

It has been awhile since we have updated here recently but we have been up to many things. For most of September the wedding took a back seat to classes starting and work. We did manage to book a photographer/ videographer. They are a husband and wife team that we actually witnessed in action the day we checked out the Inn. Here's the website http://www.jaycavallaro.com/ .

Also in September Jessica took a trip to Oklahoma and tried on dresses. She has narrowed it down to a few but there will be no pictures since we are both authors here. Last weekend I went shopping with my mom and I have possible also found the dress. Mom wants me to try on a few more dresses so I'm going to go home and to do so in November. After her visit we have been a little more wedding focused lately. I spent my day off on Monday contacting different vendors that were on the Inn's recommendation list. From this productivity we have decided on a baker for our cake (www.irenemaston.com) and a florist (www.nancysvermontflowers). We are also getting close to deciding on a DJ and the person to perform our ceremony music. All in all this week has been very productive and we are starting to feel as if our to- do list is getting shorter... I'll also be sure to up date soon on our unsuccessful trip to IKEA for our center pieces.
